There are 28 permanent teeth — eight more than the original set of baby teeth

By about the age of 12 or 13, most kids have lost all of their baby teeth and have the full set of permanent teeth.

Given all the chewing, crunching, biting, and gnashing they do, our teeth are surprisingly resilient – they have to be if they’re going to last us the rest of our lives. For this reason, it’s important to teach our children how they can maintain good oral health from an early age so they know how to take care of their permanent teeth.
