3MSM Health Care Academy invite members to the following presentation,
Fluoride-based remineralisation at low-saturation and why it matters:
New insights into functionalized tri-calcium phosphate
Presented by Dr Robert L Karlinsey.
Ongoing clinical and laboratory research have revealed exciting new information on the e cacy of the preventive products comprising fluoride and functionalized tricalcium phosphate. Building on existing knowledge previously garnered, in these latest lectures, a collection of new laboratory and clinical studies will be discussed. In particular, mechanistic underpinnings on mineralization from fluoride plus functionalized tricalcium phosphate combinations will be unlocked on the basis of theoretical model- ling and experimental observations. Mineral formation possibilities will be evaluated and results from powerful experimental methodologies probing surface microstructure manifest in incipient enamel lesions will be explored. Altogether, these results demonstrate that by invoking the power of lower supersaturation, these product systems produce distinct acid-resistant, enamel-like mineralization throughout the enamel lesion. Furthermore, as fluoride varnishes continue to become an increasingly popular method in thwarting dental decay, additional new insight
from the e cacy of independent laboratory and clinical findings of a tricalcium phosphate varnish will be revealed.

Dr Robert Karlinsey
Dr Robert Karlinsey obtained a PhD in Chemical Physics and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Indiana University. He held a research faculty position at the Oral Health Research Institute at Indiana University School of Dentistry, until his dental research led to his teaming with Dr. George Stookey and the subsequent founding of Indiana Nanotech. Dr. Karlinsey is owner and Managing Member of Nanotech. As Principal Investigator, he has received significant funding from the National Institutes of Health, states of Indiana and Texas, and prominent Fortune 500 companies. His presentations and publications span the fields of dentistry, orthopaedics, materials science, chemistry and physics. He appreciates the opportunity to share with you his knowledge and experience and can usually be found smiling. A lot.
